Full palm pad above manufactured using cowhide leather at 5oz gauge custom created to both specifically fit to glove as well as customized to way glove has been broken in to close. That half moon pattern is drawn from Rawlings Dual-Core pattern they incorporate in pads within their high-end lines. It both assists with flex as well as utilizing the physics of creating another consistent, micro-pocket of air which goes a long way in further protecting the hand from shock.
Existing plastic insert ('stay') on thumb side was thin and negligible with wear. Traced original and replaced with HDPE, high-grade plastic, nearly doubling in thickness. None present on finger side at base. Fabricated one to best balance in relation to thumb side. There was and existing piece in upper section of finger side. Left that one as is due to the facts it was holding up just fine while a bit more flex in that section than in base pieces is beneficial to position.
